Overview
Collate is the AI-for-data platform built by the creators of OpenMetadata, the open semantic context layer for AI. The platform addresses a fundamental problem in enterprise data: LLMs identify the right data for a given prompt only about 10% of the time, making AI a non-starter for serious data applications. Collate 2.0 (announced June 2026) fixes this by giving AI agents semantic context—not just context (what data exists) but semantics (what it means) and memory (making knowledge persistent and shareable).
With Collate 2.0, data professionals can tag, classify, document, curate, search, and analyze data by simply describing what they want conversationally. The platform's semantic context graph boosts data agent accuracy by as much as 7x in benchmarks. The platform uses more than 130 native connectors to map every enterprise data source to a single metadata graph. Collate provides a no-code AI Studio for building custom agents, an AI SDK for programmatic agent development, and five built-in automation templates for common jobs like regulatory compliance tagging, domain assignment, and data quality testing.
Collate also includes a Data Marketplace: an internal storefront for domains and data products with self-serve discovery, governed data product check-out, and end-to-end Data Access Request Workflows. The platform is backed by Venrock, Unusual Ventures, and Karman Ventures, and is used by Global 2000 companies and innovative startups. Collate 2.0 is scheduled for general availability in July 2026.
