Overview
Notion AI is the AI layer built into the Notion workspace/wiki/database product, offering in-line writing assistance, a Notion Agent capable of multi-step tasks (e.g., building a project tracker from a meeting summary), AI Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search across connected apps, and — since January 2026 — a model picker between GPT-5.2, Claude Opus 4.5, and Gemini 3 (plus an "Auto" mode). As of early 2026, Notion restructured pricing so that full AI features are bundled only into the Business tier and above, ending the old $10/month standalone AI add-on. Current tiers: Free ($0, unlimited blocks for individuals, limited AI trial), Plus (~$10/user/month annual, workspace collaboration, still no full AI), Business (~$20/user/month annual — the effective minimum price for full AI including Agent and Ask Notion), and Enterprise (custom). Autonomous "Custom Agents," launched February 2026, additionally consume purchased Notion Credits ($10 per 1,000) on top of the Business/Enterprise plan.
✅ Benefits
  • Because the AI is deeply embedded in an existing all-in-one workspace (docs, wikis, databases, tasks), it can act directly on a team's actual stored knowledge rather than requiring separate context-sharing
  • Choice between multiple leading underlying models (GPT, Claude, Gemini) with an "Auto" option lets users get the best model for a given task without switching apps
⚠️ Drawbacks
  • Full AI capability now requires the $20/user/month Business tier at minimum — solo users or small teams who only want the AI features can no longer buy a cheaper standalone AI add-on
  • Autonomous Custom Agents add a third, separate billing line (credits on top of the seat price), making total cost harder to predict for teams that lean heavily on agent automation
