Overview
Prepared is an assistive AI platform for 911 emergency communications (Public Safety Answering Points, or PSAPs) that turns emergency calls into actionable intelligence and enables faster response. The platform synthesizes call audio, text, video, GPS, and real-time translation into a single view, supporting more than 1,000 agencies across 49 states that protect nearly 100 million people. Prepared's technology is designed to eliminate blind spots in the earliest moments of an emergency and give responders the speed and clarity they need to save lives.
Key features include: AI-powered non-emergency call handling that triages routine inquiries, preserving critical personnel and phone capacity for urgent emergencies; a real-time communication platform that allows dispatchers to send secure links via text for livestream video from caller mobile phones (voluntary participation requiring caller consent); two-way texting capabilities for situations where the caller cannot safely speak; text translation across more than 200 languages; and audio translation in 33 languages.
Prepared was founded in 2019 and initially developed technology to help mitigate school emergencies before identifying gaps in traditional 911 systems. In September 2025, Axon (the global public safety technology leader behind TASER and body cameras) announced it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Prepared, integrating the platform into Axon's ecosystem to strengthen its strategy to connect every link in public safety from call to closure. Oneida County, New York, launched both Prepared systems in March 2026, praising them for improving efficiency and expanding capabilities.
